Heavy Soil, Greasy Stains, and Blood Spot Removal on an Area Rug from Elk Grove Village, IL

A customer from Elk Grove Village, IL recently brought us an area rug that needed a deep professional cleaning at our rug cleaning plant in Addison. This rug had heavy soil, greasy stains, and a few small blood spots. The overall condition had changed the appearance of the rug so much that the original light ecru base color was almost unrecognizable.

This was not a simple surface cleaning job. The soil and grease had built up deep into the fibers, making the rug look much darker than it actually was. When a rug reaches this condition, a quick rinse or basic wash is usually not enough. It needs a controlled cleaning process, proper chemistry, and enough flushing to safely remove the embedded soil without damaging the rug.

The Challenge: Heavy Soil, Grease, and Small Blood Spots

The main issue was the heavy contamination throughout the rug. The light base color had been covered by soil, oily residue, and traffic buildup. On top of that, the rug had small blood stains that required careful spot treatment before and during the washing process.

Blood stains need to be treated properly. Using the wrong product or too much aggressive chemistry can cause fiber damage, color loss, or permanent marks. Our goal was to break down the stain safely while protecting the structure and appearance of the rug.

Our Cleaning Process

At FiberFolk Rug Cleaning, every rug is inspected before cleaning so we can choose the right process for its condition. For this Elk Grove Village rug, we used a deeper cleaning approach because the rug needed more than one wash to release the soil and greasy buildup.

The rug went through multiple cleaning and rinsing steps until the original light ecru base color started to come back. As the embedded soil was removed, the rug’s true color became visible again. We also properly treated the small blood spots, and we were able to remove them successfully during the cleaning process.

This type of result takes patience. Some rugs need several washes, controlled agitation, proper rinsing, and careful drying before the final appearance is restored.
